Como um Homem não é de ferro e eu ando cansadíssimo, porque o trabalho tem apertado, só passei por aqui para deixar a minha recente descoberta, apesar de já andarem nisto há uns anos. Eles são alemães e dão pelo nome de Pupkulies and Rebecca. Já contam com três álbuns na bagagem, The way we (2006), Beyond the cage (2007) e já este ano, acabadinho de saír Burning boats. São canções onde o minimalismo da house se cruza com ambientes downtempo, trip-hop, pop. Música feita para sonhar e para dançar. Recomendo qualquer um dos seus álbuns, porque são bons para c#ralho. Mas aqui vou deixar o mais recente e sobre Burning boats deixo tirado daqui, o seguinte:

De Minneapolis, Estados Unidos vêm os Solid Gold com o seu álbum Bodies of water. É electrónica com pop, com guitarras, com sintetizadores, com energia para pôr o pessoal a dançar. Um álbum para abanar aqui o blog. E daqui uma análise ao álbum:

"When seeing and hearing Solid Gold, it is easy to understand why more and more people are flocking to their concerts. Sporting long shaggy hair and wearing scraggily sheik clothes over their thin, angular bodies has them looking much the part of rock stars.More importantly, the band has a fresh, synth heavy, rhythm driven sound that is attractive upon first listen.

Solid Gold initially formed in Madison, Wisconsin, a couple years ago. They since relocated to the twin cities and are now experiencing growing success. Bodies of Water, the group’s first album, has heralded some critical acclaim. Many in the blogosphere are proclaiming them as the next Tapes n’ Tapes, another local electronic band who has developed a national following. But making such comparisons are unfair to both bands.

Solid Gold’s musical style melds retro influences with poppy electronic grooves. It is a creation entirely their own. The band’s vocalist, Zachary Coulter, crafts sultry and surly lyrics. He delivers them, often with trancelike repetition, in an easy, airy tone. The sound of his voice blends effortlessly into the music’s electronic milieu.

The utilization of synthesizers fuses their sound with a laidback, danceable modern zest. At times, their synthesizer usage is very creative and nuanced. The beginning of ‘Armored Cars’ is 70s Pink Floyd esc before grooving into a catchy electronic beat. Unfortunately, at other points in the album, the sound of synthesizers is bludgeoning and heavy handed. ‘Bible Thumper,’ an otherwise likable track, is riddled with irritating electronic drawling that adds nothing meaningful to the song’s complexion.

Hopefully, as Solid Gold’s musicianship and confidence improves they will no longer feel the need to rely on synthesized gimmicks. Nevertheless, Bodies of Water is an energetic, charismatic album, which has the ability to please an already widening fan base. It is definitely worth checking out."

Pia Kayser e Karsten Kayser são um casal que vem da Alemanha e trazem o seu projecto Pea Sized. Este ano lançaram o seu álbum de estreia de seu nome In my mind. Pode dizer-se que a sua sonoridade é uma electrónica experimental a tocar muito no trip-hop. Um álbum para se ouvir devagar. Todo o que me falta aqui dizer, fica para as próximas linhas, que fui roubar aqui:

"Pea Sized is Pia Kayser and Karsten Kayser from Wiesbaden, Germany, who started seriously making music together in 2008. Their music is atmospheric alternative/electronic, mostly downtempo with a somewhat dark touch. Before this, Karsten had been playing with a number of local bands for over a decade, mostly as bassist.

In addition to conventional instruments such as guitars, synthesizers, and percussion, they tend to use (or abuse, if you will) things like melodicas, children’s toys, and various other things that produce some kind of sound. Electronic and acoustic sounds fuse in many different ways. The lyrics, written by Pia, revolve around personal impressions and emotions that are inspired by living in a postmodern world.

Da Califórnia vem as meninas Erica Elektra, Jamie Kaye e Dan Horne com a banda Hearts Of Palm UK. O seu álbum de estreia, For life (2008), traz doces de electro-pop e de indie electrónica, através dos seus teclados, guitarras e sintetizadores melódicos. Um álbum que recomendo! E como hoje foi dia de muito trabalho e estou de rastos, mais não escrevo. O resto foi tirado daqui:

"The California-based electronic pop trio Hearts of Palm UK create a blend of '80s-influenced new wave and indie pop. Initially a duo comprised of friends Erica Elektra (vocals, keyboards, and guitars) and Sonia Powell aka Frankie Rose (percussion and keyboards), the group formed in late 2006 and quickly recorded a four-song demo that received nods from print and online publications. This attention led to Elektra being named America's Best Up-and-Coming Female Musician in GenArt and Biore Skincare's Undiscover/Discover contest in 2007.
The honor came with a financial prize that gave the band enough money to make a proper album. Working with producer Dan Horne, the duo brought in outside musicians to help with the recording sessions and subsequently added keyboardist/cellist Jamie Kaye to the group's lineup. O escocês Andy Levy, conhecido como Dolphin Boy, conta na sua carreira com um álbum de originais, lançado com o selo Tummy Touch e tem de nome Gateaux youth (2003). Da pouca informação que consegui sobre este Dolphin Boy, descobri ainda que no ano passado, lançou um álbum de remisturas. Pegou no catálogo da editora Vertical Records e fez umas remisturas para uma data de artistas que lançaram pela dita editora. Esta colectânea de intitula-se de Vertical variations vol.1. O som de Dolphin Boy, caracteriza-se como sendo uma mistura de downtempo, trip-hop e lounge. Som tranquilo pró menino e prá menina. Deixo mais umas coisinhas tiradas daqui:

"As a producer and DJ for more than 15 years with a laid-back, hip-hop inspired style, it came as no surprise that Scotland's Dolphin Boy caught the attention of Tummy Touch label head, Tim "Love" Lee. O colectivo francês Chinese Man foi criado em 2004. Lançaram o seu primeiro EP Pandi groove em 2005 e no ano seguinte sai novo EP Bunni groove. Deste EP sai o tema I've got that tune, para a campanha publicitária da Mercedes ao seu modelo Classe A. Em 2007, produzem o seu terceiro vinil Indi groove. Este conjunto de EP's vai dar origem a um álbum chamado The groove sessions lançado no mesmo ano. Já este ano sai nova saga das groove sessions, desta vez com o volume II. A sonoridade dos Chinese Man é caracterizada por uma série de influências que vão desde o trip-hop, o dub, o hip-hop instrumental com uns traços funk. Há sons da índia, há alguns scratchs e muitos samplers de vozes.

O australiano Peret von Sturmer, de nome artístico Peret Mako, lançou em 2008 o seu álbum de estreia The devil's in the detail. Apresenta uma música texturada, com influências jazz, tecno daquele para ouvir no sofá e deep-house ao estilo de Mathew Herbert, nos seus primeiros álbuns. São melodias suaves que variam entre a electrónica downbeat e explorações lounge e soul, sempre com aquela batida suave, apesar da suas influências tecno ou house. O que é certo é que é um álbum relaxante e tranquilo com poucas vozes, mas com aquele toque jazzy. Um álbum para quem gosta de boa música!

"After attending the 2004 Redbull Music Academy in Rome he set to work mixing his debut album The Devil's In The Detail, the result of years of practice and interaction with music. Though a devoted hip-hop fan, Peret was never comfortable with the idea of sampling other musicians work, preferring a handmade approach. The techniques that evolved from these sonic meanderings form the basis of Peret's sound; letting experimentation guide his composition, his obsessive personality plays straight into the hands of some squiggly synths and forgotten samplers.

Zengineers. Lançam os seus álbuns por uma netlabel de seu nome iD.EOLOGY, onde se pode fazer download gratuitamente dos seus trabalhos. A sua música é uma mescla de trip-hop, breakbeat, downbeat e lounge. Entre o melancólico e mais agitado, o seu som vem contaminado com traços jazz, dados pela suavidade de um piano e por alguns saxofones perdidos ou outros instrumentos de sopro. Pela label iD.EOLOGY contam com dois álbuns lançados, Mental maps for large territories e A gesture of irritation. E daqui, veio o seguinte sobre o álbum A gesture of irritation:

"The German duo Zengineers specializes in the sort of lounge-ready downtempo that on first listen might be dismissed as mere shopping-mall background music. But there’s more than just louche mood-setting on its 16-cut ideology.de netlabel release, A Gesture of Irritation. The best tracks have a mix of sampled jazz, light-touch turntablism and found voices that bring to mind early Funki Porcini, DJ Cam and other stalwarts of the start of the Warp, Ninja Tune and Mo’ Wax labels.

Cheju é wil bolton, um compositor e produtor britânico que se move dentro das electrónicas melódicas e experimentais. O seu estilo é uma mistura de tonalidades synth, com broken beats estaladiços e texturas atmosféricas. Uma produção melódica e doce a fazer lembrar os Boards of Canada. Tem uma data de coisas lançadas, entre CDr's, mini álbuns, e álbuns de originais com etiqueta discográfica. Toda essa discografia podem conferir aqui. O seu último LP tem de nome Broken Waves (2009) e é um deleite de IDM, downtempo melódico e experimental. E só mais umas coisinhas sobre este último trabalho, tiradas daqui:

"The latest collection is pretty much what we've come to expect from the Cheju style: crunchy electronic beat programming and gleaming analogue synth melodies wrapped in synthetic gauze and arranged into tight, six-minute frameworks. Par for the genre, Broken Waves is also overstuffed at seventy-nine minutes in length with three of its fifteen tracks given over to specially commissioned remixes (in this case, Boltfish artists Reason or Romanza, Electricwest, and Preston ). (For the record, Broken Waves isn't a singularly-conceived work but a selection of 2005-08 tracks from sold-out limited-edition releases on Static Caravan, October man, Smallfish, Unlabel, Herb, and Boltfish.) If there's anything different about the current Cheju model in comparison to its earlier incarnation, it's perhaps a willingness on Bolton's part to allow more grit and grime to seep into the material than ever before—a positive move given how much the noise textures provide a welcome counterpoint to the pristine melodic dimension (heard in “Closing In,” for example, when the track's wistful melodies are offset by a textural flow of crackle and static). The pretty and serenading side of the Cheju style also comes to the fore in “Pachinko” which arranges harp-like Asian melodies, atmospheric synth washes, and crunchy beats into a transporting whole, and a similar restrained handling of material characterizes “Bracken” too. On the more aggressive side, there are tracks such as “Object Not Found,” which counters the grime of hammering beat patterns with the gleam of chiming keyboard melodies, the arcade rumble of “Conduit,” and “Hikari,” whose heavy beat flurries hit hard too. The album's most anomalous venture is “Moiré,” which builds itself around a light-footed dance of wispy, heavily-processed piano tones. It's an electro-acoustic dimension that Bolton would be wise to explore further as doing so will enable him to open up the Cheju style even more in his future work."

August Engkilde é um compositor, produtor, dj e sound-designer, que vem da Dinamarca. August toca baixo, teclas e mexe nas electrónicas. Tem no mercado três álbuns, Police beat box (2000), Electronic Panorama Orchestra (2004) e Kaotic Brain / Beautiful Noise (2008). E é de Electronic Panorama Orchestra que eu aqui vou falar especificamente, porque é o único álbum que conheço dele. Esta Electronic Panorama Orchestra é um colectivo de músicos, fundada por August em 2002, do qual resultou um álbum cuja sonoridade ronda as electrónicas experimentais, fundidas com jazz, trip-hop, alguns traços de musica latina e alguns estilhaços dub. Junta-se às bases sonoras a voz doce de Frida Asmussen, que lhe dá um toque trip-hop/jazzy. Um excelente álbum onde as várias influências se encontram de forma harmoniosa. Sobre a Electronic Panorama Orchestra deixo umas linhas tiradas daqui:

"Basically EPO is an open collective of musicians, founded by August Engkilde in 2002. Although the overall sound is based on jazz, EPO expand and extend this aural fundament with irreverent snippets of hiphop, dub, Latin and funk. Subtle electronics determine the tracks' structures: most of the time, it might just be a gentle, almost indiscernible pulse ticking away in the background, swathed in a warm double bass, brass section and guitar. Then again, synthesizer and samples might fight their way to the surface and decide to lead the expedition for a while. Do Inglaterra chega o projecto The 39Steps (nome roubado ao filme de Alfred Hitchcock), orientado pelo dj e produtor Kato e acompanhado nas vozes por Laura Fowles. Coming Clean é o álbum que traz grandes doses de trip-hop e onde a electrónica, algumas nuances jazz, o hip-hop e o imaginário cinematográfico andam de mãos dadas. Influênciado por grupos como os Massive Attack, Portishead e pelo trabalho cinematográfico de Alfred Hitchcock, Kato apresenta um excelente álbum que recomendo vivamente. Do site do projecto vem o seguinte:

"The 39Steps are here to introduce you to what they call ‘Dark Soul’. Leeds-based producer Kato has created a place where jazz, hip hop, psychedelia and filmscores collide. Built to a blueprint of bottom-heavy beats and guest singer Laura Fowles’ spine-tingling vocals, their debut album Coming Clean showcases his manifesto of thoughtful and emotive music. Despite a low-key arrival onto the electronic music scene with no live output as yet, their studio project has been steadily acquiring interest on digital domains such as MySpace, where enthusiasts from all over the world variously described their music as ‘awesome’, ‘melancholic’ and ‘beautiful’. Antennasia é um duo japonês formado por San (vozes) e Nerve (programação). A sua sonoridade é uma mistura de downtempo, electrónica, trip-hop e dub. À voz doce e cristalina de San, juntam-se as electrónicas de Nerve, criando paisagens sonoras tranquilas e relaxantes. Contam com três álbuns de originais, Phased (2002), Cinemice (2005) e 23 Bluebird Street, Velo-City (2006). E já este ano lançaram Velo-city: Remixed pela editora Lemongrassmusic, que também alberga os Weathertunes, de quem falei no post anterior. E é precisamente do site da Lemongrassmusic que vêm as seguintes palavras:

"Antennasia first hit the Tokyo club scene in 1999. Founded by programmer nerve and vocalist san. Their sound takes form gradually and they get recognized in the down-tempo community with their early two albums in the CD-R format and their works get marked no.1 in Japans internet charts, steadily spreading overseas in forums and webzines. Still with a decent dash of dub and triphop beats, antennasia released “Phased” in 2002 from Double Life Records, this time on international scale, leading to the single “Mamma, Mamma” getting airplay in Belgium, France and the Netherlands. Weathertunes é um projecto alemão formado por Roland Voss (aka Lemongrass) e pelo seu irmão Daniel Voss. Já contam com cinco álbuns lançados, Characters (2001), The birds & the sky (2003), Summer (2005), Beam me in (2007) e este ano lançam Palm beach. A sua música é essencialmente instrumental, uma electrónica downtempo, lounge e trip-hop, com influências jazz e com um cheirinho a música brasileira em alguns momentos, talvez samba, talvez bossa nova. Sempre acompanhados por Kay Dee the Bee, nas poucas vozes que se ouvem e por Michael Arlt e Philipp Vollertsen nas guitarras, criam uma sonoridade própria para relaxar e já a fazer lembrar o verão e o pôr do sol.

E da França vem Molecule e o seu electro-dub. Acaba de lançar o seu terceiro álbum Climax com um montão de convidados, desde Promoe, Nemo, Zig Zag, Leeroy, Charlelie Couture entre outros. É dub, downtempo, hip-hop, reggae, ambiente a bombar. Este é o terceiro álbum do artista, em 2007 lançou In Dub V1.0 e em 2008 foi a vez de Part of you. E para quem percebe alguma coisa de francês deixo umas linhas para ler sobre Climax, que fui tirar aqui:

O austríaco Marcus Füreder, conhecido no mundo da música como Parov Stelar, é um senhor de quem eu já ando para falar aqui há muito, muito tempo. Tenho-lhe seguido a carreira com muita atenção. Logo no primeiro disco Rough Cuts (2004), fiquei fã com aquela mistura de jazz swing e electrónica. O tema Psychedelic jazz era aquele que eu não parava de rodar. em 2005 lança Seven and storm, na mesma onda e com o mesmo requinte e em 2007 é a vez de Shine, que mantinha as mesmas linhas de produção e aventurava-se em caminhos ainda mais dançáveis. A sua produção mistura o downtempo, breakbeat, traços de house e algum funk com muito jazz swing. É música para dançar ou para se estar simplesmente no sofá a relaxar. Ainda a propósito de lançamentos, em 2008 lança para o japão Daylight, que era uma espécie de best of, com alguns originais à mistura. Este ano acaba de saír That swing (que penso ser uma edição para a grécia), que também é um best of, só que na minha opinião, falta lá o acima referido Psychadelic jazz. Hess is More é o projecto do dinamarquês Mikkel Hess e traz uma electrónica que alberga influências do jazz ao trip-hop e electro-pop, passando por uma onda mais experimental. Conta na sua bagagem com os álbuns Tip top dynamo (2005), Captain Europe (2006) e Denial (2008) e ainda com bandas sonoras para peças de teatro, The soundtrack (para a peça The Wind In The Willows) e Rosenkrantz & Gyldenstjerne er Dode (para a peça com o mesmo nome). Este ano acaba de lançar Hits que nada mais é do que as músicas mais marcantes da sua carreira, ou talvez não! Deixo aqui mais umas notas sobre Hess is More que eu fui buscar aqui e mais em baixo a colectânea dos seus sucessos, Hits.

"Hess is More is founded and directed by danish musician Mikkel Hess. Hess is More first and foremost represents the work of Mikkel Hess who througout the years has made music for films, theater and multimedia, including cooperations with the Royal Theatre, National Danish TV, The Danish Film School and a long list of danish and international production companies.

Mikkel Hess graduated from The Rhytmic Conservatory in the summer ‘02 with drums as his main instrument after studying with a.o. the legendary Ed Thigpen.
As a drummer and co-producer, Mikkel Hess can be heard on several albums including a.o. Chris Child é Kododmo, músico e compositor de Nova Iorque, que lançou em 2008 o álbum Still life. Um ábum inspirado em conjuntos de fotos tiradas por Chris Child durante as suas viagens. O álbum é electrónico, IDM, ambiente, a fazer lembrar por vezes as paisagens sonoras de Boards of Canada. Por vezes tem uns toques de jazz e trip-hop, tudo embrenhado em bonitas melodias e paisagens sonoras tranquilíssimas.
E daqui é isto:

“Still Life,” by three time Emmy nominee, Kodomo, whose real name is Chris Child, is beautifully crafted and visually stunning. Songs are created to make pictures speak through ambient sounds. Child’s impressive career background is in composing music for video games. As Kodomo, he has a special grasp for making songs that harbor an affinity of depth and instrumentation. Scientifically, he conceptualizes his music from his photography, for example, themes in nature influence the overall style, texture and rhythm. This discipline of song making adds richness to the music and makes the album very alive and vibrant. However this release is very drum and bass heavy. The titles for each song are labeled in “concepts.” Whether it is the spacey galaxy jam that begins with a slow building of dripping soft bright keyboard murmurs, or the album’s centerpiece, “Concept 16,” a track around ten minutes long that constantly grooves along a nasty and satisfying bass rhythm then soars upwardly, or “Concept 3” and its modern jazz slightly club trip-hop beat, the album constantly alters its own landscape as each picture in the album art changes. To the ear and eye, “Still Life” is as cultured as life itself."

Há uns tempos atrás falei aqui do novo álbum dos Tosca, No hassle. Na altura não havia vídeo para qualquer tema do álbum. Agora deixo aqui o vídeo do excelente My first.

Há dia atrás falei aqui do grego Serafim Tsotsonis e do seu mais recente álbum So this is heaven. Hoje deixo aqui umas notas sobre outro grego que edita pela mesma editora, a excelente Klik Records. Giannis Papaioannou é Ion, projecto que traz sonoridades cheias de ambientes cinematográficos e minimalistas e instrumentos reais, isto sobre batidas que podem ir do tecno ou house, mas muito, muito, muito chillout. Um pouco parecido com aquilo que Serafim Tsotsonis faz, mas ainda mais ambiente, com uma carga cinematográfica maior e com um paisagens sonoras para sonhar mais vincadas. Depois de ter lançado em 2006 o álbum No camera, regressa este ano com You and me, a sequela perfeita para No camera. Um álbum que recomendo vivamente. A propósito dele, deixo aqui uma pequena descrição retirada daqui:

"You & Me lifts the ‘Greek electronica’ case up to levels that can only be described as soon as one experiences the 14 tracks determining its own centre and circumference. Masha Qrella vem da alemanha. Começou na música nos anos 90 e tocou em grupos como os Contriva e Mina. Em 2002 lança o seu primeiro álbum a solo Luck e em 2005 volta à carga com Unsolved remained. E agora em 2009 lança Speak low, álbum de covers e reinterpretações e onde tem uma banda de suporte. Se nos dois primeiros álbuns Masha Qrella estava mais orientada para uma electrónica indie com traços de trip-hop e de folk, sempre com a presença da sua guitarra melosa, neste último trabalho, a coisa está mesmo orientada para a música indie e para a cena folk. Uma pequena mudança que não lhe retira a qualidade. Vou deixar aqui o vídeo do tema Destination vertical, single retirado de Unsolved remained, mas para conferir na íntegra, deixo o álbum Luck, que é o que mais me agrada da sua discografia.

Sola Rosa é um grupo que vem da Nova Zelândia formado por Andrew Spraggon (teclas e efeitos), Ben White (guitarra), Matt Short (beixo), Will Scott (bateria) e Spikey Tee fica encarregue das vozes. Já andam nisto desde 1999 e já contam com quatro álbuns lançados, Solarized (2001), Haunted out-takes (2003), Moves on (2005) e este ano acabam de lançar Get it together. à sua electrónica juntam o funk, o dub, o downtempo, o lounge e o jazz. No seu último álbum tem como convidados Bajka e a sua voz inconfundível, Iva Lamkum e Serocee. Deixo mais umas palavras tiradas do myspace da banda:

Casiotone For The Painfully Alone vem dos Estados Unidos e faz uma música electrónica que anda entre o pop e a indie. Acabou de lançar o seu quinto álbum de originais V.S Children, que seguindo a linha dos anteriores, utiliza teclados baratos, tudo num ambiente de gravação caseira. Ando maravilhado com este moço e com a sua voz com uns toques à Leonard Cohen. e da daqui vem o resto:

"Casiotone for the Painfully Alone is the musical alias of 28 year old American film school drop-out Owen Ashworth. Ashworth began making music in 1997 after he realized that song-making was a far more cost-effective means of storytelling than film-making.

The first three Casiotone for the Painfully Alone albums were made using only battery operated keyboards and electronics recorded to 4-track cassette. With 1999's Answering Machine Music, 2001's Pocket Symphonies for Lonesome Subway Cars (now collected onto one CD), and 2003's Twinkle Echo, Ashworth defined a hybrid strain of raw, emotional, and very homemade synth pop that was instantly recognizable as his own. Claustrophobic two-minute character studies shuddered with reverbed beats, blown-out chords, and simple but infectous melodies, all layered beneath Ashworth's sometimes funny but always heartbreaking lyrics.

Believing he had taken his self-imposed set of limitations to their logical conclusion, Ashworth expanded his sound with 2006's Etiquette. Etiquette removes the focus from a decidedly utilitarlian aesthetic to a broader production spectrum that finally gives Ashworth's personal, affecting song writing the space it deserves. In collaboration with producers and musicians like Jherek Biscoff (of The Dead Science and Degenerate Art Ensemble) and Jason Quever (The Papercuts and Pan American Recording Studio), the sound of Casiotone for the Painfully Alone has grown to include pianos, organs, strings, flutes, drums, and pedal steel guitars in addition to Ashworth's signature electronics and drum machines."

Estive lá há horas atrás

Estive no Teatro Sá da Bandeira a assistir ao concerto dos The Cinematic Orchestra. Um grande concerto onde os músicos transpiravam complicidade e onde se sentiu aquele saborzinho a jam session lá mais para o final. O público puxou e eles voltaram uma vez, o público continuou a puxar e eles voltaram novamente. Viu-se que eles estavam com o público e o público com eles, também numa onda de cumplicidade. Foram quase duas horas de concerto que souberam a pouco. E para quem ainda não sabe, fica aqui via wikipédia o seguinte:

"The Cinematic Orchestra is a British-based jazz and electronic outfit, created in the late 1990s by Jason Swinscoe. The band is signed to Ninja Tune independent record label. In addition to Swinscoe, the band includes PC (former DJ Food member Patrick Carpenter) on turntables, Luke Flowers (drums), Tom Chant (Saxophone), Nick Ramm (piano), Stuart McCallum (guitar) and Phil France (double bass). Former members include Jamie Coleman (trumpet), T. Daniel Howard (drums), and Alex James (piano). The most recent addition to the band is Mancunian guitarist Stuart McCallum.

Do veterano Terry Callier, pouco conheço. Nunca tive a curiosidade para lhe seguir as pisadas. A sua voz ouvi-a em participações em músicas dos Massive Attack, Koop, 4Hero ou

Grand Tourism, entre outros. A sua discografia é já longa e este ano lança Hidden Conversations, que por aquilo que me foi dado a conhecer, é um álbum diferente dos anteriores, começando logo pelo o facto de algumas músicas serem produzidas pelos Massive Attack. Este guitarrista, cantor e compositor de jazz, soul e folk, lança agora um álbum que entra no campo do trip-hop e downtempo, mas sem deixar de parte a soul e a folk. Em alguns temas até parece que ele está a declamar poesia com o seu "flow" muito particular. Um álbum que recomendo, tanto pela produção como pela harmonia criada entre a sua voz e as electrónicas que nele predominam. Parece-me que Terry Callier quis arriscar e arranjar uma produção "mais actual" e deu-se muito bem.

Kalabi vem da Inglaterra e já anda afazer música há muitos anos. este ano estreia-se com o álbum homónimo, embora já antes tivesse lançado uns EP's. A sua música é essencialmente instrumental e é uma fusão de trip-hop, downtempo e lounge. Apresenta ainda alguns elementos dub, jazz e blues. À programação, junta alguns instrumentos reais como a guitarra clássica e uns teclados, para além da "samplagem". Bom de se ouvir!

Robert Jan Meyer, conhecido como Minus 8, vem da suíça e acaba de lançar o álbum Slow motion. Um disco cheio de slow e muito electro-jazz, downtempo, easy-listening e orgânico quanto baste. Com umas vozes jazzy/soul presentes na maior parte das músicas, torna a coisa a caír também para o lounge. Não é um disco exepcional, mas é óptimo para os fins de tarde solarengos que agora começam a aparecer. Recomendo o site do artista para mais informação, e foi de lá que veio a seguinte informação biográfica:

"Zurich producer and DJ Robert Jan Meyer aka Minus 8 released since 1996 already 6 albums on labels as Sony, Compost Records, Stereo Deluxe and Mole Listening Pearls. The records are: Beyond (1996), Beyond Beyond (1998), Elysian Fields (2000), Viktor Vogel – Commercial Man (Soundtrack, 2001), Minuit (2002), Eclectrica (2004).

Robert launched many compilations as f.e. "Science Fiction Jazz 1-10", "Batucada 1-3", „Blue Note Weekend“ on Blue Note Records. His own tracks appeared on over 100 compilations as „Cafe Del Mar“, „Hotel Costes“, „DJ Kicks“, „Fashion Week“ etc.

He likes to play from Downtempo, Jazz, Hip Hop and Soul to Disco, Nu Disco to contemporary House, Electro House, Deep House and Minimal."
