Dusted é um projecto dos produtores Rollo Armstrong (membro dos Faithless e irmão da conhecida Dido) e de

Mark Bates. Com dois álbuns lançados When we were young (2000) e Safe from harm (2005), apresentam uma sonoridade chillout e downtempo. Uma electrónica bem calma e relaxante, é o que se pode escutar nas músicas de Dusted. Para confirmar deixo mais em baixo o segundo álbum do projecto e a propósito desse álbum, alguém disse o seguinte aí pela net:

Depois de Soulplay (2007), os Half Dub Theory estão de volta. O novo álbum, Floating, acabou de saír e mantém a sonoridade trip-hop, downtempo, com traços de drum and bass numa ou noutra música e, também com um cheirinho a dub de vez em quando. Esta banda vinda da Rússia, formou-se em 2006 e é constituida por três elementos, Marina (vozes), Maxim (guitarrra, vozes) e Andrey (sintetizadores, samplers, turntables, guitarra). Da Noruega vem o projecto Ugress e Gisle Martens Meyer é o homem que o conduz. Tenho seguido o projecto desde o seu primeiro álbum, mas só agora aqui venho dar conta disso e a propósito do lançamento de mais um álbum, o quarto e de seu nome Reminiscience. Para trás já ficaram os álbuns Resound (2002), Cinematronics (2004) e Unicorn (2008). Se nos primeiros dois a sonoridade andava dentro do downtempo e de algum trip-hop, nos últimos a coisa caminhou para ambientes mais electro, breakbeat mas mantendo também o downtempo. O seu mais recente álbum tem bastantes semelhanças com sonoridade dos Röyksopp, nomeadamente do seu Junior. Daqui e sobre o álbum Reminiscience, vem o seguinte:

Esta semana vai ser uma semana difícil. Há muito trabalho para fazer e o tempo não vai ser muito, bem como a frescura física. Vou tentar deixar aqui algumas propostas e caso isso não aconteça, volto para a semana em força. Vou deixar aqui uma proposta bem calma, que é o que eu ando a precisar. Muito chillout e downtempo é o som do alemão Faro, que edita pela Lemongrassmusic. O seu nome foi buscá-lo nada mais nada menos, à cidade portuguesa de Faro, cidade que o inspira na criação da sua sonoridade. Este ano lançou o seu álbum de estreia que dá pelo nome de Shape of sense. Um álbum bem tranquilo, que apanha influências das raízes africanas de Faro e as transforma em paisagens sonoras lounge, ambiente e chillout. Tranquilo moço, tranquilo! Daqui veio o seguinte:

Steve Jefferis, produtor vindo de Newcastle, lança com o nome de Cathode. Em 2004 estreava-se com o álbum Special masures e cinco anos depois surge o excelente Sparkle penty. Isto é que foi logo amor!! o rapaz produz uma electrónica ambiente, glitch e IDM, com presença de uma ou outra guitarra,de flautas e pianinhos, construindo paisagens sónicas essencialmente tranquilas e bonitas. Minimalismos na percursão e notas prolongadas que se enrolam no nosso cérebro e nos convidam a sonhar ou a viajar mais além. Aqui não há ruído e se ele existe é musical, é agradável e faz bem. Se andas mal com a vida e se achas que já não consegues dormir como quando tinhas 19 anos, se não tens tempo para nada e precisas de fugir da rotina capitalista, ouve Cathode. Olha que te vai fazer bem!

“Sparkle Plenty” - the second album from Cathode - couples the precision and warmth of the debut with a richer sonic palette – for instance, the skittering improv percussion of “Dream Feeder”, the strings, flutes and piano of “Without Memory Or Desire”, or the battered acoustic guitar and ticking clocks of “Nightly Builds”. Centrepiece of the album is “Structure Hunger”, a juddering serialist-krautrock wonder, which has its origins in a collaborative project with film-maker Adam Finlay at Newcastle’s Tyneside Cinema to provide new soundtracks to a batch of vintage colour-saturated summertime movies.

The title “Sparkle Plenty” comes from developmental psychologist and psychoanalytic psychotherapist Daniel Stern’s work on infant development. “Sparkle Plenty” is his phrase for children whose way of coping with caregivers who are unresponsive or depressed is to “sparkle” – with lots of smiles, activity and excitement, that masks the child’s authentic (possibly much lonelier) emotional state. It’s an apposite title for the record; Cathode’s music has always been unashamedly about creating something beautiful, which acts to sweeten something that’s much more melancholy underneath."

O produtor francês Vincent Villuis, conhecido no mundo artístico por AES Dana lançou este ano o álbum Leylines. Já havia lançado três álbuns de originais, Season 5 (2002), Aftermath (2003), Memory Shell (2004). Movendo-se dentro das sonoridades ambiente e downtempo, com alguns traços de produção trance, o produtor apresenta uma música calma e relaxante. Paisagens hipnóticas, ritmos downtempo e estilhaços IDM, é o que se pode encontrar por aqui. Do myspace é isto:

Dj Signify vem dos Estados Unidos com o seu hip-hop intrumental e trip-hop. Na década de 90 lança as mixtapes Signifyin' Breaks e Mixed Messages, em 2004 é a vez de Sleep no more, que conta nas vozes com a participação dos rappers underground, Buck 65 e Sage Francis. Já este ano sai o excelente Of cities, cheio de grandes batidas hip-hop glitch, ambientes trip-hop e alguns minimalismos. Conta com a participação do Aesop Rock em Low tide e em Sink or swim. Exceptuando os referidos temas, tudo o álbum é intrumental e cheio de produção de primeira qualidade. Um álbum que já tenho hà algum tempo e que só agora lhe dei a devida atenção. Para ouvir fica o tema 1993, retirado do último álbum, e para ler em inglês deixo umas linhas tiradas daqui.

"DJ Signify of Brooklyn, NY, first came to people's attention in the mid 90s with the infamous mixtape releases, "Signifyin' Breaks" and "Mixed Messages". Both ... (more) efforts were universally cited for bringing a thrust of forward thinking where actual composition and hands on cut and paste techniques were the order of the day. During this time he was invited by Mr. Dibbs to join the legendary 1200 Hobos crew.

In 2004 Signify showcased a seamless transition into production with his debut album, "Sleep No More". The project featured Buck 65 and Sage Francis, narrating over Signify's minimalist beat landscape. Merlune vem da Suíça e Daakoon do Canadá. Marlune & Daakoon lançaram este ano o LP No place like home, através da netlabel Dusted Wax Kingdom. Esta editora conta com um excelente leque de artistas que se movem dentro das sonoridades trip-hop, downtempo e IDM, e tudo disponibilizado gratuitamente. Merlune & Daakoon apresentam um álbum cheio de dark trip-hop, downtempo, grandes batidas infectadas com dub, hip-hop, algum drum and bass e alguns ambientes cinematográficos. Um excelente álbum para quem gosta de boa produção trip-hop e de boa música em geral. Deste sítio vem o seguinte:

Marko Bokum, do qual pouco sei, lançou este ano o álbum de estreia I forgot my name. Encontra-se por aqui uma sonoridade downtempo e lounge, com traços dub, um pouco ao estilo dos Thievery Corporation. Um álbum que não sendo exepcional, é agradável e bom para se ouvir durante o verão, numa esplanada ao fim da tarde.

Jean-Yves Prieur, conhecido como Kid Loco, lançava em 2009, um disco que se tornou clássico no campo da electrónica downtempo e trip-hop. Jesus life for childrens under 12 inches, apareceu-me nas mãos (cortesia de um amigo), numa altura em que eu andava a descobrir os caminhos da electrónica. Foi amor à primeira audição e ainda hoje há uma grande tensão amorosa entre mim e este disco. Kid Loco neste disco, pega em músicas de gente como Talvin Singh, Pulp, Mogwai, Saint Etienne, Badmarsh & Shri, Gak Sato, entre outros e veste-lhes uma nova roupa. Uma roupa que as transforma em autênticos hinos downtempo e trip-hop. Para quem não tem este álbum, o que por esta altura já deve ser considerado crime, fica mais em baixo para conferir na íntegra. "An easy-listening trip-hopster similar in style and intent to his countrymen Air and Dimitri from Paris, Kid Loco has an even stronger kinship with the long tradition of French pop characterized by Serge Gainsbourg. Otherwise known as Jean-Yves Prieur, he began playing the guitar at the age of 13 and played in several French punk groups during the early '80s. He moved on to production as well by the end of the decade, and moved on to reggae and hip-hop with a band named Mega Reefer Scratch. By 1996, Prieur had built his own studio, christened himself Kid Loco and released the Blues Project EP for Yellow Productions.

Moby não precisa de apresentações e está aí com um novo álbum, Wait for me é o seu nome. O homem nunca seguiu uma linha, começando com a música de dança, passando para o downtempo e depois experimantando sonoridades entre o rock e a pop, infectados pela electrónica. No seu álbum anterior, Last night, já parecia haver um regresso às sonoridades de Play, o álbum que o catapultou para o sucesso. Agora com Wait for me, regressa mesmo aos ambientes e às atmosferas do dito álbum. Moby convida para as vozes, amigos não-famosos e produz 16 temas bastante calmos e relaxantes, entre o downtempo e a pop electrónica, entre o chillout e as sonoridades cinematográficas. A realização do vídeo do primeiro single do álbum, Shot in the back of the head, ficou a cargo do grande David Lynch. O segundo single, Pale horses, é o que vou deixar por aqui e que tal como o seu antecessor, é uma animação mas com o alien já característico de moby como protagonista.

"For a Moby album, Wait for Me should be a relatively low-tech affair. He recorded it in his home studio, with non-famous friends providing the vocals. He also drew the album cover in black sharpie on copy paper. Moby describes the album as "a quieter, more melodic, more mournful, and more personal record than some of the records I've made in the past." He did, however, call in a favor from one famous friend. David Lynch (yes, the David Lynch) directed the animated video for first single "Shot in the Back of the Head"."

The Young Lovers é um projecto do produtor londrino

Joshua "Hervé" Harvey, que também lança sob o nome de The Count, Voodoo Chilli, Action Man, Dead Soul Brothers e Speaker Junk. The Young Lovers lançou este ano o álbum homónimo, onde apresenta uma electrónica jazzy, downtempo e lounge. Melodias electrónicas românticas e cinematográficas, pianos doces, trompetes perdidos e outros instrumentos mais, em doses de samplers escolhidos ao pormenor. Para além das influências jazz, também se ouvem traços de samba, IDM e produção hip-hop. Um álbum para escutar com atenção. Daqui, ficam as próximas linhas.

O dinamarqês Troels Abrahamsen é considerado um dos melhores produtores lá do sítio. Também pertence à banda de rock alternativo com influências electrónicas, Veto. A solo, a sua sonoridade é electrónica downtempo, lounge, IDM e electro-pop. Música para a mente dançar é o que se ouve no seu álbum WHT, lançado este ano. Daqui deixo o seguinte:

O blog vai estar parado durante o fim-de-semana, porque vou dar um saltinho ali a Madrid. Vou deixar aqui algumas sugestões para compensar a minha ausência.

A primeira, é um projecto vindo da polónia de seu nome L'eau du robinet. Este projecto do produtor Cristopher Pokora, tem dois álbuns lançados gratuitamente, Tap water drinkers (2008) e Still dreaming (2009). Na sua música pode-se encontrar uma electrónica infectada por nu-jazz, trip-hop e hip-hop. Ao longo dos seus discos encontram-se scratches, samplers e alguma spoken word. Ficam mais em baixo, os dois álbuns do projecto para confirmar.

A segunda sugestão também vem da Polónia e trata-se de Hunz, o homem que canta, que se encarrega dos teclados e da toda a produção electrónica. Lançou em 2008 o álbum When victims fight e já este ano foi a vez de Thoughts that move. Ouve-se por aqui electro-pop, synthpop e traços de IDM. A sua música traz influências dos The Postal Service e a sua voz faz-me lembrar Thom Yorke.

Para finalizar deixo Nayes, projecto vindo de frança. E Pouco mais sei sobre este senhor, apenas que tem dois álbuns, ambos lançados em 2008, Careless caress e The moon is leaking, e disponibilizados gratuitamente. O projecto H.U.G.O. chega da itália. Constituido por Marco Benedetti (programação e percursão), Rocco Spagnuolo (teclas, laptop e baixo), Daniela Zebra (vozes) e Alessandro Parilli (baixo), lançou este ano o álbum Equilibrium. Nascidos em 2006 pela mão de Marco e Rocco, recrutaram mais tarde Daniela, que vinha do rock psicadélico e do pós-punk. Daniela veio a conhecer no que se tornaria o quarto elemento da banda, Alessandro. Esta formação é a que se mantém actualmente, embora pelo meio existisse um outro elemento, Marta, que se mudou para espanha e deixou o grupo.
Em relação à sua sonoridade, os H.U.G.O. apresentam uma mistura de trip-hop psicadélico, com elementos de synthpop e até de techno. Sintetizadores em devaneios psicadélicos, batidas bem marcadas e a voz de Daniela Zebra a dar uma toada trip-hop/pop às músicas. Da Polónia, chega a música de Wade. Com pouca informação disponível na net, posso dizer que este produtor lançou em 2005 0 álbum Midnight soundz. Um álbum que cozinha no mesmo tacho o downtempo, o trip-hop, o jazz e as batidas hip-hop. Com muitos teclados, com beats suaves e com uns samplers de vocais aqui e ali, constrói-se um álbum bom para tranquilizar os dias agitados e para outras ocasiões.

O londrino Harmi Palda é o senhor que dá vida ao projecto Infinite Scale. Depois de alguns EP's lançados, lançou este ano o álbum de estreia Ad infinitum. Um álbum cheio de electrónicas ambiente, IDM, downtempo, com alguns toques de hip-hop abstracto, jazz, com um cheirinho a clássica moderna. Melodias cósmicas com teclados doces e ambientes descontraídos e relaxantes. Um álbum recomendado aqui pelo sítio. Do myspace do senhor veio o seguinte:

In the 80's came electro and breakdancing and though Infinite is not a backspinner he did take immense interest into the music. Add to this hip-hop, Acid-House, Manchester scene, classical and with a hint of jazz and you have a sound which seems now to have found its home within the Infinite Scale production."
