Os australianos The Winston Giles Orchestra lançaram, em 2005, o seu segundo álbum intitulado Soundtracks for sunrise. Para mim é downtempo com uma data de influências, que vão desde a electrónica ao rock psicadélico. Fazem lembrar os Lemon Jelly. O seguinte foi roubado daqui.

"Ambient? Lounge? Chill-out? Downtempo? Psy-Trance? Electronic? Psychedelic? Rock? The sound of The Winston Giles Orchestra illuminates all these styles with its electronic approach and the use of fresh beats and samples, but also creates something very real and genuine by featuring real instrumentation from melodic guitars and synths to brass and woodwind.

The orchestra sound is filled with many different sounds and varying moods. Whilst the presence of beats and the influences of dance music lays a modern bed to the sound, familiar licks of rock and guitar based bands such as Pink Floyd and even Led Zeppelin present themselves, but are not obvious, rather woven into the modern electronic canvas."

Long Arm - The branches

O russo Long Arm acaba de lançar o álbum The branches, pela Project: Mooncircle Records. Com uma forte influência jazz, este trabalho anda por caminhos do trip-hop, downtempo e hip-hop jazz. Um excelente trabalho, para escutar com atenção. E daqui, deixo as seguintes linhas:

"Long Arm took up music when he was a kid. In music school he studied how to play piano. He was really impressed by a DJ’s perfomance on one of the music channels when he saw it for the first time. It was difficult to get a turntable back then, so Long Arm and his friend started making them from old soviet phonographs/record players and collecting vintage vinyl records. Long Arm devoted all his free time to listening to those records. He spent his university years writing his own tracks, playing in various bands and participating in different projects. After his graduation he began working in Intelligent genre. His lifelong passion for jazz influenced his whole music style.

“The Branches” album is a reflection of a world, where human feelings and natural powers are bound together. Everything is correlated in this world. There is no alive-dead distinction. The season change depends just on state of mind. Every move, every wind breath, every sound brings an information, opened for everyone who believes and ready to accept it, who hears and knows how to listen."
