Nem só de crise financeira e de Björk vive a Islândia. O projecto Sometime chega da capital Reykjavík e traz um caldeirão de inflências, que vão desde os Krafwerk aos Joy Division, passando pelos Moloko, Angelo Badalamenti, sonoridades de jazz, dub, synthpop, etc, etc. Este ecletismo de influências resulta numa sonoridade electrónica dificil de catalogar, mas que se parece com um synthpop e electro-pop, misturados com uma voz jazz de Diva de la Rosa, e com uns scratchs e samplers que aparecem pela mão de Dj Dice. Em 2007 lançaram o seu único álbum até então, intitulado com um nome não muito fácil de pronunciar, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Para uma informação um pouco mais completa deixo o texto que fui buscar ao Myspace da banda: "Formed by Icelandic music veterans SOMETIME has gotten critical acclaim in spite of their very short lifespan. With only few concerts underway the band is concidered one of the most interesting new Icelandic outfits and has spearheaded a 90's revival wave in Reykjavik.
How can this happen? It's easy if you got the right ingredients:
- A super technical and inventive drummer of Iceland's leading Indie rock band Maus. theDANNI has been the heartbeat of the most active and award winning Indie rock band for over a decade, releasing over 6 albums and endless string of hits.
- DJ DICE, the turntable wizkid formerly of Iceland's biggest rapgroup Quarashi from their Xeneizes period. Dice is known for going in different directions with his sounds and music.
- CURVER the producer responsible for numerous PA meltdowns in his duet Ghostigital with Einar Orn of the Sugarcubes shows his more sensitive side with SOMETIME. Adding live dub-mixing and audiomanipulation tricks he uses in his awardwinning productions for rock gods Mnus and Singapore Sling, Kimono, Maus and of course Ghostigital.
- The group was perfected with jazz vocalist DIVA DE LA ROSA. Giving the blend an exotic and mysterious flavor. Jazz diva by day, famed DJ by night gives SOMETIME the edge and inspiration for they're 90's fused beat/soundworld. "
