"What happens when two hippies from the swinging sixties, one of which was the guitarist in a band called "The Playboys", raise a child who experiences his musical maturity in the late 80s and early 90s? He becomes Nylon Rhythm Machine (aka Tim Gomersall) and couples his guitar playing skills with his love of hip-hop and latin rhythms and funk so he can "make music for people to chill with on hot summer evenings, while sipping sangria and winking at the ladies. ...sampling anything and everything and mixing them together, to see what made people nod.".

His influences came from his own the funk, jazz and hip-hop crossover of labels like Ninja Tune and Mo' Wax. "I'm tending to make music that is metaphorical of certain moments or feelings. For example, 'Vanilla' is about triumph, and 'One Rubber' is about waking up after a really good sex. Most songs that seem to work are usually written at a time when I feel particularly high or low, for some reason. But more often than not I'm just looking for something that can make people sit back, close their eyes and forget about everything for 5 minutes."
