"Electronic music flavoured with a big portion of Jazz, …no Electronic Jazz….. , Jazz-Electronica, Experimental Electronica Jazz…?! Call it Badun music! After a long time of experimenting and a couple of years playing live the Danish trio Badun surprises us now with their groundbreaking debut. The surreal cover promises not too much, it announces a crazy journey into a colourful and surreal world. But don’t be afraid, it’s not a journey into a too abstract world… Badun’s world is just a little bit crazy.
An adventurous ride on the back of a meteorite. Borrowing a lot of influences in the world of the mid Seventies Jazz Badun creates music, which a lot of us waited for such a long time. Yes, a lot of electronic musicians used Jazz fragments and influences in their music. But there are just a few artists, which were able to loosen the reference and create something new. Badun takes this barrier like as if there isn’t one. A melancholic prevailing mood is thread, that goes through the whole album but in the same moment the music disperses an optimistic and “pushing” mood. The drums are perfect: fast, complex and with a big portion of swing. The tight soundscapes pushes you in your seat and then after a moment they release you again and you get the feeling that you are able to fly. You have to work for this album, you really have to sit down and listen carefully to it, handle it with care like something breakable.
I swear you after this you will be addicted to the sound of Badun. This album is a masterpiece. If you don’t like Jazz music don’t be afraid, Badun takes the best of Jazz and of electronic music and creates nonesuch music."
