"Bobby Hughes Combination (formerly the Bobby Hughes Experience) kick off their second album, NHU GOLDEN ERA, with a Vietnamese spoken word introduction that establishes the vibe to follow: jazzy and bright. "Clive, the Runner" whistles forth a swinging beat and a vocal that sticks it to you. The delicate vocals of "Nhu Beginin" give it a soft feel, but, as contrast, the scat in "MC Arthurs Break" lend themselves to a certain percussive urgency. Certainly, NHU GOLDEN ERA is much more upbeat than FUSA RIOT, because it approaches the music with a swing jazz feel, rather than funk. "Olympic Girls" has a samba rhythm and easygoing melody; “Nattergalen” adds a different timbre with some male vocals; and "Karin's Kerma" is the obvious crowd-pleaser of the album, jazzy downtempo at its best. The tracks are definitely all quality, though some stick out more than others. Particularly “Microneseren” with its banjo riff, double bass, and quick, high tones (plus a bonus track towards the end of its running time!)."
