Husky Rescue - Ship of light

Os Finlandeses Husky Rescue, estão de volta com o seu terceiro álbum, Ship of light. Marko Nyberg, Reeta-Leena Korhola, Ville Riippa, Anssi Sopanen e Miika Colliander, oferecem-nos um conjunto de canções pop electrónica, que se dançam ou simplesmente se ouvem tranquilamente. "Finnish ambient folksters Husky Rescue’s third full-length album features parts recorded in the band’s outdoor forest studio.

However, the pristine production fails to reveal this, even if the (intentional) occasional tweeting of birds in the background is a bit of a clue. Most of the album is chilled-out, smooth and thought provoking, but there are a few standout moments of catchy pop, most notably ‘Sound of Love’, which features the tender vocals of Reeta-Leena Korhola over delicate chimes and the pitter-patter of a snare.

Moments of Foals-like franticness from drummer Anssi Sopanen add a bit of danceability to thunderous single ‘We Shall Burn Bright’. ‘Grey Pastures, Still Waters’ is a magnificently crafted journey featuring synth openings, subtle acoustic guitar picking and effects borrowed from fellow Scandinavian noisemakers Blindfold. ‘When Time Was on Their Side’ has a feeling of filler about it, though even this carries the dreamy characteristics the band aim for."
